Four-parameter model for polarization-resolved rough-surface BRDF.
A modeling procedure is demonstrated, which allows representation of polarization-resolved BRDF data using only four parameters: the real and imaginary parts of an effective refractive index with an added parameter taking grazing incidence absorption into account and an angular-scattering parameter determined from the BRDF measurement of a chosen angle of incidence, preferably close to normal i...
متن کاملUsing analytical description of snow BRDF for visible channel calibration
Vicarious calibration using different types of land surface and deep convective clouds is considered as a mode to monitor the sensor performance. Snow cover as the brightest and in many cases spatially uniform surface has a significant potential as a calibration target. Proposed in this presentation approach is based on the creation and implementation of analytical bidirectional reflectance dis...
متن کاملAn improved model of surface BRDF-atmospheric coupled radiation
A recent paper compared approximate radiative transfer results for top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiance, using various algorithms published in the literature. We show that one of the algorithms was used incorrectly, resulting in its poor performance as stated in that paper. Correct usage produces results with errors typically less than 3%, which compares favorably to the other tested algorithms.
متن کاملMultiwavelength-integrated local model fitting method for interferometric surface profiling.
The local model fitting (LMF) method is a useful single-shot surface profiling algorithm that features fast measurement speed and robustness against vibration. However, the measurement range of the LMF method (i.e., measurable height difference between two neighboring pixels) is limited up to a quarter of the light source wavelength. To cope with this problem, the multiwavelength-matched LMF(MM...
متن کاملComparison of fatigue model results for rough surface elastohydrodynamic lubrication
The paper compares the results of applying different fatigue failure models to surfaces that experience elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) and have surface roughness features which are large compared with the equivalent smooth surface film thickness. The surface profiles used for the comparisons reported are taken from test gear surfaces used in an FZG gear test. The surface has a roughness o...
